Taking care of yourself is one aspect of having a successful life. Yes, sometimes it really is about you! As it should be. Once children are old enough to entertain themselves for more than five minutes at a time, you can start training them to let you have a few minutes for yourself here and there. This time builds up so, eventually, you can get in a whole bath while your children play a game or do their homework. Another option is to do something for yourself while your children are napping or in bed for the night.
If you’re not a mom, then you have more time for doing things for you. Take advantage.
Having a successful life is important to you, and one of the ways to accomplish this is to take time for yourself. Do nice things for you. De-stress by doing things to help you unwind. By doing so, you’ll be more energized and motivated to create a successful life.
Things to do for you.
- Sit on the floor in meditation pose in a dark room, a lit candle on the floor in front of you. Go ahead and sit on a yoga mat if you have one. Take a few slow, deep breaths to start the relaxation process. Close your eyes, continuing to breath slow and deep, and continue to relax your body and clear your mind. Meditate, acknowledging any thoughts you have and then pushing them out of your mind. Continue with this for five minutes.
- Sit in a hot bath with soft music for at least twenty minutes, relaxing your body and clearing your mind. I enjoy nature music during this time, as might you. Once you are relaxed and your mind is clear, do some positive self-talk. Remind yourself about how beautiful and strong you are; that you are a confident woman who is successful in her life.
- Sit on the back porch in the morning, sipping a cup of tea while observing nature and contemplating the good things in life.
- Set aside an afternoon for your favorite hobby at least once a month.
